In the December issue of San Francisco Magazine, I have a story on venues like Taverna Aventine, Nihon, the San Francisco Wine Center, and the Occidental Cigar Club where you can store your poison of choice on-site. Read it online here.

Unless I’m mistaken, there are at least two bottles of Belvedere in that picture.
Now I love Belvedere, but can someone please explain to me the rationale of keeping your own personal bottle of something like that in a rented space at a bar?
I can see this a something cool for a bar to offer for selected special order or limited availability liquors, but not a standard brand!
I guess the quasi-bottle service they discuss in the article might justify some of it, but it seems wasteful, even for a world-class poser like myself! -
I believe that Belvedere was the default bottle they put in all the cabinets until they were rented, so it could those. But in bottle service, which this is a very close relation to, Grey Goose is far and away the most popular bottle to buy. Personally, I’d store a bottle of scotch- seems to be the better bargain since the markup is less.
